Three Women Who Inspire Me To Do Better.
I feel as though 2018 was the year of Women, and the movement seems to be picking up pace through this year too. It’s incredibly inspiring to connect with other women who are just so genuine and warming and I feel lucky to say that I have made some lovely friends through the fellow blogging community. I love that women all over the world are coming together to connect and engage over similar interests, whether it be through an online community or a yoga class, it’s so amazing to see women sharing the love for one another. I, too, have been inspired by women this year, I wanted to share the love I’ve been feeling for women everywhere. These ladies have all inspired me to do better, in one way or another so I thought it would be lovely to shine the spotlight on them. I think I’d like to make this is a regular feature on the blog so you can expect a lot of love being thrown around…
Jasmine from Jasmine Dowling
Jasmine Dowling is a letterer/blogger/graphic designer/general wonder woman who is based in Brisbane, Australia. Jasmine is an extremely creative, down to earth babe who just radiates warmth. She always makes time for people who comment on her photos and posts and I love to follow her day through her instagram stories.
Unfortunately, it seems that one of the downsides to Jasmine’s job, is that she’s having to continuously fight her case against people who take her work and don’t credit it/use it for their own gain etc. If there is one thing that I’ve learnt from this gal, it’s that we don’t have to sit back and let people walk all over us. Plagiarism and copywriting is not flattering and it can be extremely disheartening when you put all of your time and effort into a piece of work that you’re proud of, just to have someone rip you off. Jasmine seems to take it all in her stride and pushes back on these cases with her head held high.
Something else that inspires me about this aussie gal, is how she can literally find the beauty in anything. Jasmine and her partner, Michael, recently travelled to Japan, which is one of mine and Olly’s dream destinations. The photography and tones that Jasmine captured honestly had me swooning. Who knew a can of peach drink could be so bloody pretty? I really wish I picked up their His and Hers Japan photography book when it was out, having major regrets!
I highly recommend following JD on instagram, she posts the most beautiful photos and examples of her work, she also visits the most insane florist. I think she’ll always be one of my top 3 girl crushes!
Tenneil from Like Neon Love
Tenneil Allmark is a blogger/social media assistant based in Perth, Australia. Tenneil happens to be one of the most incredible women I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know. I absolutely love her blog and her writing style. She creates the most in depth posts paired with beautiful photography. I don’t follow any other blogger who writes like Tenneil so I always feel so happy to have her pop up on my feed. The main reason why I love her so much, however, is that she has no other ulterior motive behind blogging other than she simply loves to do it. She’s not in it for the freebies or for the sponsorships or to make money through her side gig.
Now I’m not saying that anyone else does have this motive, but it’s rare to find a blogger who would rather not accept gifts and so and that’s what I find so refreshing about the wonderful Tenneil. She often (without realising) reminds me to be grateful for everything that comes my way through blogging, but equally if the lovely gifts were to stop, that it would be okay because all I want to do is, simply, blog. Tenneil is a breath of fresh air in the blogging community and I just adore her and her wonderful little kitten, Willow. I really can’t wait to grow our friendship over the next coming year and I can’t wait to see what content she brings next.
Kate from Kate La Vie
Kate Spiers is a full time blogger and super babe based in Glasgow, Scotland with her husband Jordan and two cats, Mouse and Tiny Tim (who ironically may just be the biggest cat I’ve ever seen…)
Kate, oh, Kate. I’m honestly not sure that there is anything this girl can do wrong? I’ve been following Kate online for a good few years now, since her early Ghost Parties days. She seems to have the perfect balance that I can only dream of having, although I’m sure she would read this and laugh and tell me differently. I have had the pleasure of meeting this beauty and yes, I can tell you that she is just as lovely and warm in person as she comes across in her photos and vlogs, she’s a joy to be around.
I think what I take from Kate the most, is her balance and composure. She knows that if she eats well and treats her body kindly and goes to the gym that she’ll feel better. She also knows that if she wants to have a gin cocktail or two along with some banana bread or chocolate, that it’s just as okay. I feel as though it’s the same with her job. It seems that Kate finds a good middle ground on working hard and also knowing when to take breaks and time away, which is really refreshing in a world where it seems that you’re only successful if you’re really busy. Obviously, we’re all only human, it would be naive to believe that Kate doesn’t have her share of down days here and there, but it’s how she carries herself and allows herself the time to step back that really shines through.
Her content in all forms is some of my ultimate favourite too. If you haven’t already headed over to Kate’s platforms to keep up with her, then I highly recommend you do. She’s honestly one of the loveliest, most smart working gals in the business.
From her original blog content, to her home and Jordan’s coffee shop, to her hair and beauty routine, to her handbag collection… She just gets it right and I will always be here to cheerlead her on in the front row. Can you tell I’m team Kate all the way?
I truly believe that women need each other now more than ever so it always warms my heart when I see girls supporting each other in whatever way they can. More of that throughout 2019 please! Please do let me know in the comments who is inspiring you right now, let’s share the love together.
